Beautiful
porcelain figurine
of a
black stallion
in a standing position. Nicely sculptured his muscle details from shoulder muscles to hindquarters and even cheek muscles in the face are precisely carved. With elegantly flowing black mane and tail, this glossy grey horse statue is so gorgeous that it is sure to be a great addition to your horse statue collection.

It has a sticker is on the belly that reads "Seto-yaki"(瀬戸焼). 'Seto-yaki' is a general term for porcelain products made in Seto Japan, which includes all kinds of porcelain items such as animal, human, Disney and more figurines. "Seto" is a city located in the center of Japan and also the center for Japan's ceramics industry.
This item is a
newly made reproducton
from a somewhat vintage mold which has probably been used since the '70s or '80s. In those days, a large quantity of horse, dog and other animal figurines was produced in Japan and exported worldwide under various brand names, such as Shafford, Napco or Lefton. Those manufacturers now no longer exist, but some of their casting molds have been passed down and some animal species are still being made in small quantities in a small factory run by a husband and wife team, where this horse figurine was also made.
