Antique 1942-43 Kansas Sunflower License Plate, 61-1309, original

Description

This is an Antique Automobile tag:  Kansas 1942-43; green with white printing and sunflowers in each lower corner, all original.   The tag is actually stamped 1942 (see back photo) and in 1943 the metal square was bolted into place.  The tag measures about 12 3/8 by 5 3/4 inches.  The number is 61-1309 ( Norton County) and KANSAS '42 appears along the lower edge under the "43" plate.
This tag has been part of a tag collector's inventory for the past 40 years and stored with care.  A tag from WWII years, this tag has a deep, vivid green background and excellent color and detail in the sunflowers.  There are a few subtle surface issues in the green background.  The numerals and letters are largely in very good shape; minor scuffs here and there on the large numbers.  The right sunflower has small paint off the lower 3 petals and the left flower is perfect.  There are a few places in the border where the white is rubbed away.  There are 4 attachment holes that are true in shape with only slight bolt scratches affecting the top two interior edges.  The back of the tag has great color with very little surface pitting and very small rust along one top hole.
