Long ago, the kanji (褌) for “loincloth”
, could be read “hakama”, “kobakama”, “heko”, or even “mawashi”, but eventually it came to be read as “fundoshi”.
There were three varieties of fundoshi, depending on length. They were the “rokushaku”, “ecchu”, and “mokko”. Based on the ecchu, this fundoshi is made of silk.
